The Tanzania Naioth Eagle Foundation (TANEFO) supports a Women's Empowerment Program that offers women sustainable income opportunities through bead and buskets production. The program uses locally sourced materials to create a variety of handcrafted products, such as necklaces, bracelets, earrings and buskets, which reflect Tanzania's cultural heritage and modern fashion trends. This initiative provides financial independence, builds community, and empowers women with valuable skills. By purchasing these beads and buskets, customers directly support women's empowerment and community development. For more information, contact TANEFO.
Manyara is one of only two regions in Tanzania among all thirty one regions where the number of women is less than the number of men according to the census held in the year 2022. And women are the ones who play a big part when it comes to taking care of a household in any typical African society. This means there is a bigger gap that has to be filled to bring women to a place they are able to cater and care for their families. Featuring informal and formal classes and workshops with women to equip them with the skills they need to be able to generate an income for themselves and their families is one of the main programs. Women getting entrepreneurship trainings on making handcrafts items, batiks and running small businesses equips them with what they need to run a home.
The net enrollment percentage of children at the pre primary school level in rural Tanzania is 31.3%. It means in every 10 children, 7 miss out school due to reasons such as work or being satisfied with the education level. And for communities such as the pastoralists who depend on cattle rearing in the Manyara region in Tanzania, this trend is even more evident than in other places. This is according to a study by the World Bank (2020/2021). Supporting children who are in their schooling age to get quality education and a good foundation for being an important part of changing their communities and livelihood is one of the specific targets of our foundation here in Tanzania.
