Discover the roots, values, and vision that drive TANEFO's work across Tanzania's communities.
Tanzania Naioth Eagle Foundation (TANEFO) was founded on June 9, 2021, by Jeremiah Ayo โ a passionate advocate for community development and social justice. Officially registered as an NGO on January 11, 2023, the organization emerged from a profound desire to address the persistent challenges faced by women and children in Tanzania's pastoralist and rural communities.
The Manyara Region, where TANEFO primarily operates, is home to some of Tanzania's most resilient communities โ including Maasai pastoralists who maintain centuries-old cultural traditions while navigating the pressures of a modern world. Despite their strength, these communities face significant gaps in access to economic opportunity, healthcare information, and quality education.
TANEFO was built to bridge those gaps โ not by imposing external solutions, but by working alongside communities to identify what they need, what they value, and how they want to grow. The name "Naioth Eagle" reflects this spirit: soaring high with vision, while remaining deeply connected to the land and people below.

Providing humanitarian support to enable marginalized communities to achieve independence and dignity.
The principles that guide every decision, partnership, and program at TANEFO.
We approach every community, individual, and challenge with deep empathy. Our work begins and ends with the people we serve.
Solutions are co-created with the communities we work in. Local knowledge, culture, and leadership are at the center of everything we do.
We invest in programs that create self-sufficient systems โ not dependency. Long-term impact requires building local capacity and ownership.
We operate with full transparency, accountability, and honesty toward our beneficiaries, donors, partners, and the broader public.
We actively work to dismantle the systemic barriers that marginalize women, children, and pastoralist communities from accessing resources and rights.
We believe in the power of partnerships โ with local leaders, international organizations, governments, and communities working side by side.
